Saint Xavier University (SXU) and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) announce a partnership to offer guaranteed admission to eligible transfer students, creating a clear path to a bachelor’s degree.

City Colleges students who complete the General Education Core Curriculum and an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree with a 2.0 GPA and no grade below a C will be able to transfer to St. Xavier with guaranteed admissions at junior status.

City Colleges students who earn an associate degree with a 2.0 GPA or higher may also be eligible for one or more of the following scholarships at SXU:

• Transfer Merit Scholarship ($10,000-$17,000/year)
• PTK Scholarship ($18,000/year)
• Chicago Star Transfer Scholarship ($1,000/year)
• Talent Scholarships (amounts vary)

“City Colleges is a launching pad for many students towards a bachelor’s degree, and through partnerships like this, our students find a more direct and affordable pathway to their transfer goal,” said City Colleges Chancellor Juan Salgado.

Through this agreement, City Colleges students will also benefit from early advising sessions from SXU, invitations to SXU college events, SXU library access and priority registration at SXU. City Colleges students who earn a minimum 3.75 cumulative GPA are eligible to apply to SXU’s Honors Program.

At SXU, located at 3700 W. 103rd Street in Chicago, CCC students can expect to be greeted with clear and concise transfer guides that will guarantee a smooth transition. Faculty from each department will be available to meet with students who have questions about specific programs, and a financial aid counselor will connect with students prior to their start. CCC students will also have the opportunity to attend special events and workshops on the SXU campus, as well as the option of receiving advising support at their City College campus.

“On behalf of the Transfer team and the Admission team, we are excited to promote the Guaranteed Admission Agreement with City Colleges of Chicago. The goal of the agreement is to create a seamless transition for all transfer students,” said Eileen Luce, director of the Transfer Student Services Center. “We are thrilled to help put students on a focused path toward successful careers.”

City Colleges students can enter the guaranteed admissions program after earning 12 credit hours at CCC.

SXU’s provost, James MacLaren, Ph.D. signed the agreement February 12th along with City Colleges Chancellor Juan Salgado and Provost Dr. Mark Potter.
