CCC congratulates Michelle Duster on her new book titled, “Ida B. the Queen: The Extraordinary Life and Legacy of Ida B. Wells”.

Michelle tutors at Wilbur Wright College. She is an author, speaker, and educator. She believes it is essential that the contributions women and African Americans made to the United States be told in a more complete and accurate way. She spent the first 20 years of her career working in advertising, marketing, and program coordination. In recent years Michelle has written, edited or contributed to eight books and worked with several organizations and committees to preserve and promote history.

“Michelle exudes excellence in everything she does. Her work ethic and commitment to racial and social justice inspire our students and the whole college. We are so grateful to have her at CCC,” said David Potash, President of CCC’s Wilbur Wright College. 

Michelle was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College in 1985, completed a film and video production program at Columbia College Chicago, and earned an M.A. in Media Studies from The New School in New York City. She currently teaches business writing at Columbia College Chicago and tutors writing at Wilbur Wright College.
