City colleges of Chicago will provide Amazon hourly employees access to credit and certification education pathways at all seven colleges.

Amazon’s Career Choice program provides full tuition to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere

CHICAGO (March 3, 2022)—Today, City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) announced they have been selected as an education partner for Amazon’s Career Choice program, providing Amazon’s hourly employees access to students pursing an associate degree or certificate in educational pathways.

“Together, City Colleges of Chicago and Amazon are creating a path to opportunity for people to grow their career options that better support their goals, their families and lead to a path of upward mobility,” said Juan Salgado, Chancellor of City Colleges of Chicago.

City College’s of Chicago vision is to be recognized as the city’s most accessible higher education engine of socioeconomic mobility and racial equity—empowering all Chicagoans to take part in building a stronger and more just city.

Amazon’s Career Choice program is an education benefit that empowers employees to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. The program meets individual learners where they are on their education journey through a variety of education and upskilling opportunities including full college tuition, industry certifications designed to lead to in-demand jobs, and foundational skills such as English language proficiency, high school diplomas, and GEDs. In the U.S., the company is investing $1.2 billion to upskill more than 300,000 employees by 2025 to help move them into higher-paying, in-demand jobs.

Amazon’s Career Choice program has a rigorous selection process for third-party partner educators, choosing partners that are focused on helping employees through their education programs, assisting them with job placements, and overall offering education that leads to career success.

City Colleges of Chicago is a system of seven community colleges and five satellite sites that provide learning opportunities for residents of the Chicago area. Programs range from two-year associate degrees to several weeks-long occupational certificates, free courses for the GED and free English as a second language (ESL) courses.
