Malcolm X College’s Vaccine Ambassador Course was recently featured by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as one of best “Ways Health Departments Can Help Increase COVID-19 Vaccinations.”

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, City Colleges has worked to support both our students and our greater communities. One of the ways we’ve been proud to make an impact is by addressing vaccine hesitancy, specifically through Malcolm X College’s free Vaccine Ambassador Course.

The two-hour course, which launched in 2021, is made possible through a partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health. It is offered in both English and Spanish, and participants can complete it online, at their own pace, and at no cost.

In addition to answering frequently asked questions about COVID-19 and the vaccines, it gives students background on the history of vaccine hesitancy and why some communities and individuals may mistrust vaccines. Participants who complete the course receive a certificate and are prepared to approach difficult conversations about vaccines with their friends, family members, and neighbors.
