Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood is home to a vibrant, award-winning restaurant scene. Now, students can prepare for careers working in the restaurant hospitality business right in the neighborhood.

Arturo Velasquez Institute, Richard J. Daley College’s satellite campus in Pilsen, is launching a 7-week continuing education program focused on restaurant hospitality. Students will learn customer service skills, industry site rules, regulations, and safety practices, and professional development skills. They’ll also explore different roles associated with restaurant hospitality positions.

Upon completion of the program, students are guaranteed to receive a job interview.

“At Arturo Velasquez Institute, we combine classroom and hands-on learning to prepare students for in-demand jobs—and with Chicago being home to more than 7,300 restaurants, it’s clear that the restaurant hospitality industry is in high demand,” said Janine E. Janosky, president of Richard J. Daley College. “We look forward to offering this new short-term program to help students gain the skills they need to contribute to this thriving sector of our city’s economy.”

Classes begin on March 20, 2023, and will be offered in both English and Spanish.
