High School Students Visit the Advanced Manufacturing Program Wright College Humboldt Park

On Friday March 17th, fourteen high school students from Marshall Metropolitan High School and the Academy for Scholastic Achievement visited Wright College Humboldt Park to learn about manufacturing, receiving hands-on training with industry standard equipment and software.

The field trip started with a visit to the CNC and manual machine shops, where the students learned 3D modeling while designing custom key chains and t-shirts that were printed at the campus’s on-site fabrication laboratory.

The day was organized and sponsored by the Manufacturing Renaissance, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization, founded in 1982 in effort to address the wide scale loss of manufacturing jobs and its impact on communities, envisioning programs that will contribute to the tangible increases in racial equity, economic and social inclusion in our communities.
