Hosted by Project S.A.F.E, with special appearances from the Wellness Center, SGA, and a few of our external community partners. Let me know how you plan to participate (you can volunteer to table, create and present an activity relevant to gender-based violence or pitch in for purple cupcakes).
Description: Purple Thursday is a day to show support for survivors of domestic violence and abuse, and to let them know that help is available. It takes place on the third Thursday of October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The color purple is a symbol of peace, courage, survival, honor, and dedication to ending violence. It may have become associated with this mission during the women’s suffrage movement, when thousands of women’s rights advocates wore purple in a march in Washington, D.C. in 1978.
