Program Requirements

  • Registrants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of class registration
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s License for at least one year prior to class registration
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language
  • The City of Chicago reviews criminal background checks and certified driving records when issuing public chauffeur licenses. Individuals with criminal convictions, warrants, pending cases, or poor driving history may be denied a license. Anyone who owes money to the City must resolve their debt through payment or an approved payment plan before becoming eligible. Visit Chicago.gov/PublicVehicles for more information.

Registration is done in-person ONLY at the following locations:

  • Olive Harvey College – TDL Center – Front Desk
  • Truman College – Room 162

icon-arrow Public Passenger Vehicle Training – Unrestricted Chauffeur Training Prepare to take the Public Chauffeur License exam issued by the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection to become public chauffeurs in the City of Chicago. This is a one-week training program.
icon-arrow Limousine - Restricted Chauffeur Training This one-day training prepares students to become restricted public chauffeurs. By participating in this training, you are eligible to become licensed to drive a livery vehicle/limousine.
icon-arrow Taxi Access Program – Accessibility Training This hands-on training session for industry professionals teaches how to transport persons with disabilities and use the PACE-TAP voucher system to ensure payments.
icon-arrow 4 Hour – Defensive Driving Learn practical strategies to reduce collision -related injuries, fatalities, and costs associated with motor vehicle crashes.
icon-arrow 8 Hour – Attitudinal Defensive Driving This course is designed for drivers and licensed chauffeurs who have a record of rules and regulations violations. Students will review violated rules and regulations, and receive cultural sensitivity training, anger management, conflict resolution training, and more.
icon-arrow 8 hour – Professionalism/Refusal of Service This one-day course is for licensed public chauffeurs who have violated either City of Chicago rule #17 or #21 and have been directed by the Administrative Hearing Division of the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection to take a remedial training course.
