Demacion grew up riding the CTA, so stepping into the driver’s seat feels full circle. Today, he’s not just working for the CTA, he’s behind the wheel, serving the same city that shaped him.
Before earning his CDL Class-B passenger license from Olive-Harvey College, Demacion never imagined himself as a bus operator. Through the CTA Second Chance program, hands-on skill development, and the support he found at Olive-Harvey, he gained more than a career pathway — he gained confidence.
“My time at Olive-Harvey gave me a boost of confidence and made me realize I’m capable of learning more,” he said.
Driving the bus brings back meaningful memories.
“It reminds me of taking the CTA to school and work, and riding with my mom when I was younger. It makes me feel proud.”
Now, Demacion plans to return to Olive-Harvey to continue his education while advancing his career with the CTA. His story is proof that opportunity, access, and belief can change the trajectory of someone’s life.
