Jennifer
Jennifer enrolled at Kennedy-King College to continue pursuing a dream she had put on hold years earlier: to become not only a first-generation college student, but also a first-generation college graduate.
Tia Lane was strategic in choosing to work at Olive-Harvey College, a Predominantly Black Institution. As a clinical counselor, she knew that the mental health field lacked diversity—and she wanted to show students from every background that it’s okay to seek out help.
When students needed free and accessible mental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tia was there to answer the call. She has continued to provide confidential, quality care since then, and is proud to see more students utilizing the Wellness Center to get help for whatever issues they may face.
LaTia Lane was selected as Olive-Harvey College’s 2022 Luminary Award Staff Recipient.
