Margie
For years, Margie hoped to earn her GED. At one point, she enrolled at Richard J. Daley College, but like many adult learners balancing responsibilities, she had to put her education on hold.
I’m originally from Lagos, Nigeria, now I live in Chicago. One of the reasons I chose Malcolm X College was because its healthcare reputation and its partnership with UIC. The opportunity to pursue an associate and bachelor’s degree at the same time through the Malcolm X/UIC Nursing dual admission pathway was very attractive to me. Attending a community college was also a smart financial decision for me.
I appreciated the collaboration between both schools as it made the transition seamless. I am grateful to both Malcolm X and UIC for helping me reach my goals. I am currently employed as a psychiatric ICU nurse at St. Joseph Hospital while pursuing my Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN).
